Oysters, or bivalve molluscs, are hailed as ecosystem engineers in coastal waters. They can ingest and filter across their gills up to 190 litres of water every 24 hours. Oysters digest pollutants with significant impacts in the biosphere of the Xiamen urban area.
The project workshops introduced ideas of interspecies relationships, Andrew Morton’s Hyperobject, and the science of oysters in the environment. Students produced animations and an interactive sculpture exhibited at the G Art Gallery and Museum, Fuzhou, 04 – 07/2025.
