neuralgia (two coronations) 13' video 2011/13

neuralgia (two coronations) reworks material from a private archive. Notable footage featured the coronation processions of two british monarchs - in 1937 & 1953 - rare public events in a collection of family activities. This performance of ’procession’, captured in camera as a record of public and private assembly, is a central to the film.

Walter Benjamin's retelling of 'Sleeping Beauty', voiced by the artist Stuart Brisley and the filmmakers son Richard, creates a new context for these images.
